September 4, Saturday:  New Vista Community presents Wine Walk at the Town Square Shopping Mall from 5:00-9:00 p.m.  Guests will sample from 40 different wines for tasting, three sakes, martinis prepared by the Blue Martini and six premium beers.  Food will include samplings from some of the area’s quality restaurants, including Brio, Claim Jumper, The Melting Pot, Rhythm Kitchen, Cana Latin Kitchen & Bar, The Grape, Bernard’s Bistro, Miller’s Ale House and the Blue Martini.  Tickets cost $75.00 each or two for $100.00, on a pre-sale basis and $100.00 at the door. September 24, Friday:  Ventano Italian Grill & Seafood, located at 191 S. Arroyo Grande, Henderson, presents a wine dinner featuring the wines of Napa Valley vintner Darioush, paired with a five course dinner including lump crab cake, halibut, steak tartare, braised short ribs and dessert.  Cost is $95.00 including tax & gratuity.  For reservations or further information, contact the restaurant at (702)944-4848.


September 24 & 25, Friday & Saturday:  Rock’n Roll Wine presents its two night, fifth annual Wine Amplified extravaganza.  Friday evening will feature champagne and chocolate prepared by gourmet dessert chefs, along with the sounds of the renown English reggae band UB40 performing live.  Saturday night will feature live music by rockers Third Eye Blind, Locksley and Jarrod Gorbel, together with approximately 150 wines from 50 different wineries available for tasting.  Both events take place at the Mandalay Bay Beach of the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino.  Friday night’s event commences at 8:00 p.m. and costs $55.00.  Saturday night’s festivities begin at 7:00 p.m. and costs $65.00.  For reservations or further information, contact R & R Wine at (702)240-3066.


October 9, Saturday:   Spring Preserve hosts its annual Grapes & Hops festival, featuring many microbrews and premium California wines, at the preserve grounds located at 333 S. Valley View, Las Vegas.  The event runs from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and costs $30.00 per ticket or $50.00 for two on a pre-event sale, and $35.00 at the door.  Benefits of the event go to Par for the Cure, a non-profit organization devoted to breast cancer research.  For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.springpreserve.org .

Most Wednesdays and Thursdays:  Free wine tastings at Khoury’s Fine Wine & Spirits.  No charge.  Tastings usually take place from 6:00-8:00 p,m. on Wednesday at the Khoury’s store located at 7150 S. Durango, Las Vegas, or at the same time on Thursdays at the Khoury’s store located at 9915 S. Most Wednesdays and Fridays:  Wine Styles hosts wine tastings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at their store located at 4215 S Grand Canyon Drive, Las Vegas, 89147.  Tasting fee usually is $5.00, but check with store for specific cost and wines offered by calling (702)869-9463.


Most Thursdays:  Wine tasting and food sampling at the Les Kincaid radio show from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Become part of a live radio show with host Les Kincaid, who teaches cooking and wine appreciation at UNLV.  Each week, Les visits a different upscale restaurant where he offers cooking tips and explains why that venue’s food is paired with the wines offered at the event.  Admission costs $20.00.  For more information, visit his website at www.leskincaid.com .


Most Thursdays:  Join Rock’n Roll Wine each Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in the Lavo Restaurant at the Palazzo for a tasting of R & R’s own wines, plus the DJ’s music in the lounge.  No cover charge for this event.


Most Thursdays:  Wine tasting from 6-8 p.m. at Las Vegas Wine Company located at 6105 W. Tropicana Las Vegas.  No charge for tasting.  Calll 702-878-8466 for details.


Most Fridays:  Wine tasting from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Double Helix wine bar located on the second floor of the Palazzo Shops between the Venetian and the Palazzo Hotels & Casinos.  The shop features several different wines each Friday with a tasting fee of only $5.00.
