Located at 1770 Horizon Ridge Parkway, in Henderson, Valley Cheese & Wine specializes in unique, moderately priced wines and gourmet cheese.  Situated behind a strip mall, this little gem of a store lies obscured from view while traveling down Horizon Ridge Parkway.  It lies between Green Valley Parkway and Valle Verde.  Just turn into driveway between the dry cleaners and the Settebello Pizzeria, and you will see the store.  Your efforts will be rewarded.  

 

    The store carries wines from all major regions, but seems to emphasize, Italian, Spanish, and French wines.  Prices for most wines range between $15.00 to $30.00.  The staff is quite knowledgeable about the inventory, and will gladly help you select a wine for a particular occasion or to pair with a special meal.

 

 

    The shop has a nice selection of gourmet cheese, and will allow tasting prior to purchase.  Bob, who owns and manages the store, personally selects all the artesian cheese before deciding which ones to sell.  Most of the cheese is imported from Europe, although the store also offers a good assortment of domestic cheese as well.  The shop also markets some nice imported gourmet foodstuffs that tend to complement the wine and cheese, such a mustards, sauces, and vegetables.

 

    Valley Wine & Cheese hosts informative wine classes about a wide range of subjects.  Some of the classes offered for August and September include World Class Chardonnay, A Tour of Italy, Introduction to France, Wine and Cheese Pairing, and Sparklers from around the World.  Classes commence at 6:30 pm  on Thursdays and reservations are required.  The classes all include wine tasting, and cost between $25.00-$50.00.  Fees must be paid in advance.  Sign up early, because the classes tend to fill quickly.  For more details on the classes, contact the store directly at (702)341-8191.
