Wine for Sale

FEATURED WINE RETAILER:  VINO 100

Natalie Buster of Vino 100...

Although a nationwide franchise, this particular Vino 100 represents the only franchise here in the Las Vegas area.  The corporate powers wisely allow each store to express individuality as reflected by the decisions of local management.  The congenial and wine-savvy ladies who manage this store, Natalie and Teresa, have taken full advantage of that freedom to craft a place where the customer can enjoy the total wine experience.

The store features a light and bright stylish interior, with smart wooden bins showcasing the wine for sale along the walls, and decorative displays of wine related items for sale in the center of the shop.  The décor makes for a pleasant and interesting place to shop.

“One hundred wines for $25.00 or less” provides the common theme for all the Vino 100 stores.  But this store has so much more to offer.  In addition to the good selection of reasonably priced wines from all over the world, this store stocks a nice inventory of higher quality wines not easily found elsewhere here in the Las Vegas area.  For example, the store carries the 2003 Lynch Bages from the Bordeaux region of France, the 2002 Schweiger Cabernet Sauvignon from the Spring Mountain district of the Napa Valley,  and a 2003 Revana Cabernet Sauvignon, produced by famous winemaker Heidi Barrett.

Vino 100 utilizes a novel approach to wine evaluation.  Instead of relying upon the point system applied by most wine critics, the Vino 100 “Barometer” rates each wine offered for sale by a two pronged taste test.  The one test rates a wine on a scale showing fruitiness to dryness, and the other test rates the body of the wine from light to full.  The store posts the results of this evaluation below each wine offered for sale.  Reference to this information assists the shopper in selecting a wine that will conform to the customers’ personal preferences.

Natalie and Teresa both have an excellent working knowledge of wine and can answer almost any question with regard to the wines they stock.  They also will assist customers in planning their own wine dinners and events, and will even provide catering help to private affairs upon appointment.

The management encourages the enjoyment of wine by promoting numerous activities relating to wine tasting, pairing with foods, and education.  They normally host a tasting on most Fridays between 6:00-8:00 p.m.  On “Sippen Saturdays” the store always has several bottles of wine open for free tasting between 2:00-6:00 p.m.  Other events are scheduled periodically throughout each week.  The events often include visits by sommeliers, winemakers, chefs and other people in wine related businesses.  Further activities promoted by the store include staging regular wine dinners at restaurants throughout the Las Vegas area.  The best way to keep abreast of Vino 100’s active calendar is to sign up club to receive regular email notices of the scheduled promotions.  You may do this through the website at www.vino100lasvegas.com .

Vino 100 also has a wine club. Benefits include wine, store discounts, and attendance at several special dinner events.  Anyone interested should inquire with the store about the details of membership.

Vino 100 is located in northwest Las Vegas at 7220 West Azure, next to a Starbucks coffee shop.  Consult their website for a map of how to find the store, or call them direct at (702)734-8466.
