As mentioned in the preceding article, I visited Asti in September, 2006.  I felt fortunate to see the Palio of Asti up close and personal.  You may purchase tickets for the Palio online from the tourist agency, and many of the hotels will buy your ticket in advance if you have booked a stay in their establishments.  The better tickets cost approximately 50 euros.  I suggest purchasing tickets near the finish line for the best viewing.
